چکیده

Candidiasis is an opportunistic infection affecting immunosuppressed and hospitalized patients, with mortality rates approaching 40% in Colombia. The growing pharmacological resistance of Candida species the emergence multidrug-resistant auris are major public health problems. Therefore, different antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) being investigated as therapeutic alternatives to control candidiasis effectively safely. This work aimed evaluate vitro antifungal activity three synthetic AMPs, PNR20, PNR20-1, 35409, against ATCC reference strains albicans, glabrata, parapsilosis, krusei, tropicalis, clinical isolates C. auris. Antifungal susceptibility testing, determined by broth microdilution, showed that AMPs have planktonic cells all evaluated. In had effect on biofilm formation cell viability, XTT assay flow cytometry, respectively. Also, morphological alterations membrane at intracellular level these were induced peptides, observed transmission electron microscopy. vitro, no cytotoxicity L929 murine fibroblasts. Our results evaluated potential most important Colombia world.

Effectiveness of Disinfectants Against Candida auris and Other Candida Species.

Contaminated surfaces are a suspected source for dissemination of the globally emerging pathogen Candida auris. In laboratory testing, sporicidal and improved hydrogen peroxide disinfectants were highly effective against C. auris, C. glabrata, and C. albicans. The widely used quaternary ammonium disinfectants exhibited relatively poor activity against all of the Candida species. Infect Control ...

In vitro activity of synthetic antimicrobial peptides against Candida.

Yeast-like fungi are the most common cause of fungal infections in humans. Actually, in the age of opportunistic infections and increasing resistance, development of modern antifungal agents becomes a very important challenge. This paper describes synthesis and antimicrobial assay of four naturally occurring peptide antibiotics (aurein 1.2, citropin 1.1, temporin A, uperin 3.6) and three chemic...
